During an April 10, 2010 workshop at the MLA conference, attendees were asked to share something they would like to learn during the session. Here is a partial list along with suggested learning resources and strategies :
How to keep up! Technology is always going to be changing, so get in the habit of learning. A good way to start is with a learning 2.0 program, like the Montana Library 2.0 Challenge, 23 things, or one of the many similar self paced learning programs that can be found on the web.
Ideas about integrating technology and literature – Why not join a book-sharing site like LibraryThing, GoodReads, or Shelfari? Start a book blog - for a book club or staff picks on your library's website. Search for blogs on this topic to get more ideas.
How to customize my learning portal – Subscribe to RSS feeds for learning resources - use a feed reader or a personal start page like iGoogle, Netvibes, Pageflakes, Protopage. Create a favorites folder on your computer and make sure your include Montana Library CE Central. Create a wiki to collect your learning resources and then use it as your home page.
A-V presentations Watch an archived webinar, for example on "Video Creation & Sharing" from TechSoup: https://cc.readytalk.com/cc/playback/Playback.do?id=8ino3o3w Find past presentations on "video production in libraries" on slideshare.net. Do a websearch on the topic and check out the reliable sites that show up in your results (sites from libraries or educational institutions are usually pretty good.)
Photo editing Attend upcoming InfoPeople webinar “Digital Photo Management for Libraries” (May 18). Consult “help” and support/training resources from the software vendor.
